U.S. Education Secretary Urges College Admissions to Reconsider How Applicants are Asked About Their Criminal History

In a letter addressed to college and university leaders, John B. King Jr., urged those in admissions to relax how those with criminal histories are treated.

A search of criminal records found that approximately 70 million Americans have some form of criminal history, with 2 million behind bars.  According to Mr. King these offenders can find reentry easier if they have access to quality education and training.
