But but... this is Japanese style seating. The chairs are claled "Zabuton".
This is everywhere in Japan - makes it easier to sit for longer dinners as there's back support.
If it's a fail, its a fail for an entire culture!

Although I don’t think this looks comfortable either… Who wears four-inch heels inside someone else’s house?
Getting down would be the easy part. It's getting back up again that's dicey, but it would make for some interesting after-dinner entertainment.
